Apparently not.
Yessir... MY school, is still trying to cram NEW crap down our throats in the LAST WEEK before finals. And guess what?! We're going to have this new crap on the finals too! Oh goodie!
Yeah...apparently even though we claim to be a 'college preparatory' school, we don't do what most colleges do as COMMON SENSE. It's infuriating! Doesn't it irk you that a school claims to "work with its students to ensure success" while simultaneously working AGAINST them. You know what we have for reviews? Eight-frickin'-page packets. This is an insult! You can't just chuck a packet at your students and tell them to study! A lot of students just so happen to retain information they go over IN THE FUCKING CLASSROOM. How can our school claim to help its students no matter what kind of learning styles they have when it does shit like this!? So yes, as you can see, I've been quite busy...what with having to study ON MY OWN along with all the NEW ASSIGNMENTS my teachers are giving me. This whole style is not only hypocritical, it's self destructive. How can we keep our prestigious image, if we're keeping our students from getting the highest score their abilities can with all the crap we're loading on them? We can't. Congratulations, our school has successfully shot itself in the foot.
Well...all school rants aside, it's the holiday season again. Yep yep...time to cook up the turkey...or tofurkey...or turducken...and sit down with your family for a fun and wonderful holiday. And by wonderful, I mean stressful. Seriously...when did the holidays become a to-do list? I thinkt that people have started to focus so much on making everything PERFECT for the Holidays so everyone's happy, they forget to be happy. I'm not encouraging not accomodating visiting family when they come for the holidays, I'm just saying that you have to be happy. After all, aren't the holidays a time to appreciate what you have? See, with all of the corporate black friday shit and all the perfectionism and materialism, we're forgetting what the holidays are all about. I think that we need to take these few days a year and just STOP, you know? Stop with all the materialism, stop with all the perfectionism, stop judging others, stop judging ourselves, stop this stupid image-conscious Christmas, and just do what really makes us happy. Again, not encouraging selfishness, I'm just saying that we need to do what really feels right to us and makes us happy. Seeing a friend's face light up when they get a gift, that makes you happy, doesn't it? If it doesn't make you happy, then do something that will. Why can't people just do what feels right to them? Why do people always have to have this corporate, structured Christmas where family glares from across the table while cutting their perfect christmas ham with their Martha Stewart collection cutlery? Christmas trees, christmas lights, and christmas foods bring a smile to everyone's face, whether they're perfect or not. You know why? If you were eating a wonderful honey-glazed ham all alone, if you were sitting next to a christmas tree or watching the yule log all alone, you wouldn't be happy. It's the people who come with Christmas that make you happy. Not the shit. People just have to stop and just be happy that they're with their family this Christmas, not freak out about pleasing them. We have to remember what really makes us happy about Christmas and do those things, not follow the joyless corporate Christmas to-do list in which giving gifts is an OBLIGATION and not a fun thing to do. Just...slow down and do what makes you happy and feels right, you know? After all, *cue music* It's...the most...wonderful tiiiiime....of the ye--- *is hit by brick*
